This article arises in the context of a doctoral thesis which objective is to advance on the understanding that blind can reach about spatial mental models that blind kids and girls from birth use during activities school learning in the natural sciences of basic primary education; article aims to present the state of art that emerged from a literature review and which allowed the identification of some research groups in different parts of the world who have had as concern blindness and space management; seven groups were identified located in the United States, England, Spain, France, Italy, Brazil and Colombia.
