This paper argues that manga X, created and published by the CLAMP collective in Japan in 1992, and imported into Mexico by Editorial Vid between 2003 and 2005, represents a survival of the myth of the ambiguous woman, marked by the scheme of the image, both day and night. This is observed in the reiteration of motherhood as a sacrifice, in the case of the character of Tōru Magami; and the woman threatens linked to betrayal and death in the case of Saya Monou. We examine the manga from a visual analysis of symbolic, historical and iconographic references in conjunction with the narrative of the manga. In this sense, we return to the paradigm of indexical inferences proposed by Carlo Ginzburg, as well as the semiotic analysis proposal of Jenaro Talens.
