Keywords:

The aim of this text is to observe the relationship between history and fiction present in the novel of Jorge Volpi. A criminal novel (2018) which pretends to find the links of discursive and literary forms that serve to visualize the mechanisms of power that allow us to understand the forms of construction/invention of contemporary Mexican reality. This is possible because the novel presents a constant counterpoint between its documentary force and the appeals of the narrative voice that emerges as ways of exiting the fiction proposed by the official discourses through the mass media in Mexico.
