CARDINAL ERNESTO CORRIPIO AHUMADA AND THE 1985 MEXICO CITY EARTHQUEKE
Abstract
The 1985 earthquake in Mexico City was an important moment of rapprochement between the government and
the Archbishop of Mexico. Presumably, in this awakening of civil society that characterized the successive stages
of the quake, the Church achieved success using its structure and its ability to raise funds. This article analyzes
the work that served as Archbishop of Mexico in the reconstruction work.
