QUARANTINE-FIELDWORK: A GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR QUEBRADA DE LOS ARRIEROS (ANTOFAGASTA, CHILE)
Abstract
¿How to prospect a large number of archaeological features spread over a large area, of which we
have few references in primary sources, oral memory and scientific bibliography? ¿How to do it if we
are going through, in addition, a pandemic context that makes field work impossible? From a didactic
approach, in this article we comment the results of the implementation of geoinformatics tools as a
crucial element that allowed us to overcome these difficulties and face the field work formulating
heuristic hypotheses, defining the area under study and knowing in advance many of its
characteristics.
