ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF OBSERVATION OF TEACHING ACTION ON THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHERS OF COMPULSORY EDUCATION
Abstract
The search of efficient training strategies to achieve a professional improvement for teachers is
present in the supranational political-educational agenda. Specifically, the observation of the teaching
performance as a tool for teacher professional development has an important position. There are
different experiences regarding the observation as a teaching tool but few researches regarding the
contribution of this practice. The aim of this research it to analyze the impact on the teachers due to
the fact of having being observed during their teaching activity. The sample was composed of 118
teachers of different educational centers. A questionnaire was conducted regarding different aspects
of their professional performance. The results show a higher score for the teachers who had been
observed than for ones no observed, which prove the use of the teaching observation technique as
a positive training tool for teachers.
