FAMILY FARMING AND ARTISANAL PRODUCTION: THE STATE OF THE ART IN THE BRAZILIAN ACADEMY
Abstract
The objective of this work is to identify in the national literature the state of the art on the theme
"artisanal production" related to research in the context of family farming. To achieve this objective, it
was decided to use the systematic literature review methodological procedure, which follows the
protocol proposed by Cronin, Ryan and Coughlan (2008), covering articles published in the Capes
Periodicals - Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level Personnel bases; Scielo - Scientific
Electronic Library Online; PBi - Integrated Search Portal; and Redalyc - Network of Scientific Journals
of Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Thus, it was possible to synthesize the proposed theme and
present the main approaches and research problems in this field. The results suggest that craft
production is related to the concepts of quality markets, short and alternative chains, territorial and
local development, and social reproduction strategies of family farmers.
